ElevenLabs Valuation Doubles to 22 Billion Dollars as AI Voice Tools Heat Up
What just happened
ElevenLabs, the well known AI voice company, has just been valued at 22 billion dollars, doubling in just a few months. In February 2026, the company was valued at 11 billion dollars. And just over a year before that, the number was only 6.6 billion dollars.
This round was not a typical funding round. ElevenLabs ran a secondary share sale worth 300 million dollars, allowing employees to sell off some of the shares they hold to large investors. Wellington and T. Rowe Price led the deal, alongside a group of new investors including EQT, Goldman Sachs, GIC and Sapphire Ventures. Existing investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed and ICONIQ also put in more money.
In plain terms, investors believe ElevenLabs is worth twice as much as it was 7 months ago, and they are willing to pay to buy shares directly from the company's own employees, a way to retain talent without having to wait for the company to go public.
What ElevenLabs actually does
If you are not familiar with them, ElevenLabs is the name behind a range of AI voice generation tools that sound remarkably natural, close to a real human voice. They have two main product lines:
- Text to speech: you type in a block of text and the AI reads it back in a voice that sounds like a real person, including support for Vietnamese. Many YouTubers and podcasters use this tool to add narration without hiring a voice actor.
- ElevenAgents: a platform for building AI voice agents, think of an automated customer service line that talks as naturally as a real person. This platform now handles more than 15 million conversations a week.

Why the company's value is rising so fast
The reason is simple: their revenue is growing extremely fast. About a year ago, ElevenLabs was bringing in roughly 200 million dollars a year (known as ARR, annual recurring revenue). By spring 2026, that number had climbed to about 500 million dollars, meaning it grew two and a half times in just one year.
Their customers are not just individual users either. Large companies like Stripe and Deutsche Telekom, along with the governments of Ukraine and Greece, are also using ElevenLabs' technology. This enterprise customer segment makes up 55 percent of total revenue, a sign that their technology is stable enough for large organizations to trust, not just a tech novelty.
This is also part of a broader trend: AI companies are seeing their valuations climb extremely fast once their products get real, widespread use. You can see the same pattern in the stories of Anthropic nearing an 800 billion dollar IPO, with Google and Amazon pouring in tens of billions or the more recent Anthropic losing 42 billion dollars yet still targeting a 2,000 billion dollar IPO, both showing money flowing into the AI industry at an unprecedented pace.
What this means for everyday people
You do not need to care about company valuations to feel the real world effect: when a company has this much money and this many enterprise customers, it tends to invest more heavily in its product and ship new features faster. For ElevenLabs, that could mean even more natural sounding voices, support for more languages, or cheaper and easier to use AI voice agent tools for everyday people, not just large businesses.
If you are curious about the concept of an AI agent (an AI assistant that can take action on its own, not just answer questions), which is the category ElevenAgents belongs to, the post What is an AI agent? How is it different from a chatbot, explained simply explains it in an easy to follow way.
ElevenLabs currently has a free tier with a monthly character limit, enough to try generating a few short voice clips. If you want to use it more for your own YouTube channel or podcast, you can try ElevenLabs to see if a paid plan fits your needs. There are also plenty of other free AI voice tools on the market if you only need to use one occasionally, no need to pay right away.
